The Northern Queensland Wildfire Mitigation Project received
a Highly Commended award in the category of People and Community
at the 2008 Queensland Spatial Excellence Awards presentations.
Congratulations to all of the project collaborators for this achievement.

Thanks to all the NQWMP Beta version testers who have provided valuable feedback on the website functionality.
Over the next 6 weeks the website will be undergoing some significant upgrades to increase functionality and improve website design.
During this time, there will be some modifications to the available functionality of the website and short periods where full access to the website functionality is not possible.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and trust you will appreciate the additional functionality that the public release of the NQWMP website will bring.

We have rolled out some improvements to the
Create Maps feature which
substantially improves performance.
The improvements in map redraw are most noticeable
when using the imagery and raster topographic map layers.

We added a number of new data sets today including:
QFRS Boundaries
We have created a new QFRS layer group for these new layers.
- updated rural brigade boundaries
- fire warden districts
- chief fire warden districts
- rural fire service regions
Queensland Rail Data - Cardwell to Forsayth
All railway layers are within the infrastructure group.
- station locations
- km post locations
- staging areas
- accurate railway locations
