![]() | How do I set the map scale?Controlling Map ScaleMap scale is determined by the zoom control in the upper left of the map screen. There are 17 predefined map scales. There is no way to directly set the map scale to a specific value. Each step in zoom level changes the map scale by a factor of 2. Map Scales and PrintingThe maps printed from this application include a scale bar, not an absolute scale value. This ensures the scale will be accurate regardless of the printer the map is printed on, and the scale factor applied during printing. Map Scales and Zoom Levels
The top zoom level shows approximately ½ square km to an A4 page. The bottom zoom level shows the entire world on a single page. Assuming your printer is correctly configured and prints to scale, and you have not applied any scale factors during printing, the figure to the right gives an approximate map scale for each of the available zoom levels from 17 to 6. Map scales below zoom levels 6 are not listed because they are too small to be of interest for this application. | |
